A fire took place this Tuesday in Holguín, causing considerable damage. Neighbors in the area pointed out that, in addition to the incident, the nearby river is contaminated and in the same house affected by the flames, the presence of a mattress infested with bedbugs was discovered.
According to local residents, the fire broke out in an unoccupied house on Maceo Street, in downtown Holguin. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Authorities quickly arrived at the scene to control the situation and prevent the flames from spreading to other nearby houses.
"We are concerned that the river that runs through this area is highly contaminated due to the lack of proper sanitation. Also, it is alarming to discover the existence of a mattress with bedbugs in the midst of the emergency caused by the fire," commented one of the affected neighbors.
The exact causes of the fire have not yet been determined, and local authorities are expected to conduct an investigation to clarify what happened. Meanwhile, affected residents are receiving assistance and support from local authorities and community organizations to cope with this unexpected situation.
