In a building of the Higher Institute of Design (ISDi), located in Havana, an elderly woman was hospitalized after several nearby residences were blocked by the collapse of the structure. It is estimated that there are about 800 cubic meters of rubble at the site.
The emergency occurred in an old building located on 19th Street and Avenida de los Presidentes, in Vedado, Havana. The collapse caused the blockage of several nearby houses. Residents of the area alerted the authorities, who immediately arrived on the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.
According to eyewitnesses, the hospitalized elderly woman managed to escape from the rubble before being taken to the hospital for medical attention. So far, the exact causes of the building's collapse are unknown, as it had already shown signs of deterioration.
"We heard a loud noise, and when we went out to the street, we saw a white dust that filled the entire area. The elderly woman was lucky to get out in time, but many families are now worried about the state of their homes," commented a local resident.
Authorities are working on removing the rubble to ensure the safety of the area and to determine if there are additional risks to nearby homes. An investigation is expected to be conducted to clarify the circumstances that led to the building's collapse and to take necessary measures to prevent future incidents.
