Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the policy of the United States as 'aggressive and criminal' during an unusual televised address to official media and some selected foreign journalists. He confirmed that the island has not received fuel from abroad since last December due to US pressure. 'This is completely suffocating us,' Díaz-Canel added. The president stated that the US energy blockade will have serious consequences for the country, for which a series of emergency measures are being implemented that will 'demand efforts'. 'If we do not resist, what will we do?' Díaz-Canel asked. He emphasized that the US 'energy blockade' will affect 'the transportation of food, food production, public transport, the functioning of hospitals, of all kinds of institutions, schools, the production of the economy, tourism...'. At present, emergency measures are being introduced in Cuba to address the consequences of the blockade.
