Since 2019, the availability of buses in Cuba has been reduced by almost half, according to recent statements by the general director of the Union of Railways of Cuba. This reduction in the bus fleet has created difficulties in public transportation and has been identified as one of the main shortages in the sector.
According to the general director, this decrease in buses is due to a lack of resources for acquiring new vehicles, as well as problems in maintaining the existing ones. Cuban citizens have been affected by this situation, with long waits at stops and difficulties in getting around the city.
In his statements, the general director of the Union of Railways also indicated that they are working to find short-term solutions to alleviate this crisis in public transportation. Measures are expected to be implemented in the coming months that will improve the availability of buses in Cuba and facilitate the movement of citizens.
