The Cuban financial company FINCIMEX has announced the introduction of a new system for holders of AIS and Clásicas cards. Despite the fact that Cubans do not receive salaries in dollars, the economic policy of the dictatorship requires them to depend on foreign currencies.
One of the new measures introduced by FINCIMEX is the possibility of topping up AIS and Clásicas cards in US dollars. Information has also been furnished that these cardholders will be able to make payments for housing, internet services, and other necessities, using the same currency.
A bonus to these changes is that cardholders will be able to pay for services of the national telephone network ETECSA in dollars without converting to Cuban pesos at the official exchange rate.
FINCIMEX's statement notes that such innovations are aimed at simplifying the lives of citizens and streamlining the process of financial transactions.
