Cuba Denounces U.S. Economic War Measures

The Government of Cuba has condemned the decision of the U.S. president to reinstate the country on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, revoking an order issued by his predecessor. The official statement emphasizes that this measure is an act of aggression aimed at undermining the national sovereignty of the Caribbean nation.

"The decision to restore the strict economic warfare measures against Cuba, which his predecessor eliminated only days before, is a demonstration of the aggression of U.S. imperialism against the sovereignty, peace, and well-being of the Cuban population," highlights the government text. It is mentioned that this action is part of a broader policy of domination that has been applied for decades with the aim of weakening Cuba.

The Cuban government criticizes the ambition of the Donald Trump Administration to use unilateral measures that negatively affect the economy, the standard of living, and the legitimate aspirations of the Cuban people. It is emphasized that these actions will not succeed in changing Cuba's socialist course or undermining the country's determination to continue its development and its struggle for justice and the well-being of its population.

In the official statement, it is noted that the new U.S. policy continues a long tradition of aggression toward Cuba, based on the Monroe Doctrine and hegemonic interests seeking to impose themselves in the region. It is highlighted that Cuba's resistance and determination in the face of these actions will remain steadfast, reaffirming the independence and sovereignty of the country.

"They will not divert us from the socialist path, from the commitment to recover the economy, to promote greater solidarity, creativity, talent, work ethic, and to defend as an impregnable bastion freedom, independence, sovereignty, and the privilege of building a future without foreign interference," concludes the governmental note.
