Senator Rick Scott is promoting stricter travel restrictions to Cuba. Scott argues that when people travel to the island, those close to the Cuban government benefit directly.
According to the Republican senator, it is important to limit travel to Cuba to prevent the island's regime from becoming economically stronger through tourism. Scott seeks to impose harsher restrictions to decrease the financial support that the Cuban government receives.
"When people travel to Cuba, those close to the government (...) benefit from it," the senator stated regarding the need to restrict travel to the Caribbean island.
