The Cuban government condemned an armed attack perpetrated against former Bolivian president Evo Morales. The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement rejecting the assassination attempt on Morales, calling the aggression a cowardly act that endangers the peace and stability of Bolivia.

According to press reports, Morales survived an armed attack in the Tropics of Cochabamba, where the vehicle he was traveling in was shot at fourteen times during an ambush, resulting in the driver being injured. The former Bolivian president personally reported the armed attack and the alleged attempt at apprehension while traveling on a road in the Tropics of Cochabamba, a region considered his main political stronghold.

The incident has caused an increase in tension in the area between state security forces and the local population.
