Panamanian Graduates in Cuba Condemn the Blockade

Panamanian graduates educated in Cuba issued a statement supporting the revolution and condemning the U.S. economic blockade, calling it criminal and illegal. They called on the international community to immediately end the sanctions.

We, Panamanian graduates from Cuban universities, faithful to the principles of the Revolution and the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, manifest our firmest and unbreakable solidarity with the Republic of Cuba, our second homeland. Our unbreakable commitment is to put our knowledge and efforts at the service of the defense of Cuban society, the continuity of the Revolution, and the country's development, despite the enormous difficulties imposed by the blockade. We firmly condemn unilateral coercive measures with an extraterritorial character, which not only violate Cuba's sovereignty but also harm other nations and prejudice the American people themselves. Their objective is clear and has been recognized in official U.S. government documents: to subjugate the Cuban people through scarcity and suffering to achieve a political system change that we, professionals trained by the Revolution, unanimously reject. We categorically denounce the unjust and criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States, recrudescing in an opportunistic and genocidal manner at the most complex moments, taking advantage of the world's superpower. This blockade, in force for over six decades, constitutes the main obstacle to the good development of socialism, is the massive, flagrant, and systematic violation of the human rights of the entire Cuban people, and the greatest expression of imperial abuse and arrogance. Our call to the international community, to people of good will within the United States, and to all solidarity organizations is to redouble efforts to demand the immediate and unconditional end of this cruel and illegal blockade. History has taught us that neither force, nor pressure, nor the most ruthless of sieges have been able to break the dignity of this people. As intellectuals and scientists, as the fruit and defenders of the public, free, and quality education that José Martí's homeland gave us, we declare: 'For the Homeland, the Revolution, and Socialism! Cuba Lives and Will Triumph! Down with the Blockade!'
